Manga Review: Sweet Sweet Revenge Vol. 1

Sweet Sweet Revenge Volume 1 by Shushushu Sakurai

Hikari returns to her school after five years and to exact revenge on the school gang of fairy tale princes: Ao Senjoin, the one who humiliated her; Yuya Osanai, the one who framed her; Kenichi Akashi, the one who shut her in; Kotaro Rokujo, the one one who stole from her and Fuji Takoaka, the one who did nothing but watch.

The picture above looks like your typical reverse harem manga. A girl. Five handsome boys. But it's far from it. Instead of the boys fawning over her, the heroine is after them and is hating on all of them. And so far only two boys may have feelings for her. This falls under two flowers under Levels of Reverse Harem. This is the first part of the two-volume series.

The story is funny...I mean hands down very funny...but it can be twisted and the revenge can be wild at times. In the center of the story are bullying and lots of trauma. It confuses me with who to feel sorry for. Hikari or the boys or both. Well maybe except for Ao. Lol And out of all the boys, I really felt bad for Yuya even though he's the second meanest. The storytelling delivers such an impact in only a matter of four chapters. The backstories were fast-paced without feeling being rushed.

I love Hikari and her transition from time to time of wistfulness to goddess of destruction. And elementary Hikari is so cute! The guys look like they're going to perform as an idol group with their military get-up. Who wears a cape in highschool? Now I get now the visual theme of handcuff on the volume cover and the group photo.

It ends on a plot twist cliffhanger and there's a feeling of hope that in the end there will be redemption for everyone. For the first time, I don't want to make a decision about who my favorite guy is until I finish the second one. It's just mixed emotions but I want to see it through and much looking forward to it. All-Time Top Ten Reverse Harem Anime

Hello Wallflowers! I am not going to do a decade in review since I did that already a couple of years ago. but I am loooong overdue for my top 10 anime. I actually made one coincidentally a decade ago but it's a consolidated top 10 of everything from anime, manga and dramas as the titles are fewer back in 2010. I should have done it sooner but it's the nagging feeling that I should finish everything before I can post this. What if there's a hidden gem in my backlog that piled up beginning 2015 (due to pregnancy)? Fast forward to last year and major life events later, I have finished nine anime in eight months. It felt like forever. And after that, I found out I could actually start the list even without watching the backlog.
