Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge 10 episodes
Four guys are tasked to do the impossible -- to turn their landlady's 'horror girl' niece into a lady or they will have to pay the rent. This jdorama is based on the manga of the same name and also known as 'The Wallflower'. Take note I haven't read the manga and have only seen the anime so I'm more of comparing the drama with the anime. Some of the differences of are the addition of Takeru, the boys are in college while Sunako stays at home and headbutting in lieu of nosebleeding. But aside from that the adaptation didn't put the good material into waste. It followed the general idea of the story and created it's own fun seemingly random but well executed storylines. It has more drama and more emphasis with romance and relationships. The first episode was so fast and confusing but the drama made a turnaround with the second episode and I was impressed with almost each episode. The script is well written and I love the overall direction. It was faithful with the gothic theme and they even replicated Hiroshi, Josephine and Akira. The mansion eerily reminds me of Atashinchi no Danshi's Trick Heart Castle and in the same note Aunt is the lawyer of AnD. The opening is hilarious. It's like they intentionally want to make you cringe and swoon all at the same time. The opening song was actually performed by Kamenashi 's (Kyohei) boy band, Kat-Tun. And just like 'You're Beautiful' cast the three guys have their own boy band groups in real life except for Uchi who plays Ranmaru who I've gathered is a ballet dancer..so Casanova of him. LOL. He's the least attractive but he's my fave among the 4. He's so funny. I have some hesitations with the casting (especially with Kyohe's eyebrows haha) but as the drama goes on they all breathed life to our favorite characters. Everyone is superb! I'm surprised to find the drama end so soon but they ended it in good timing rather than prolong it and spoil the beauty of it. I missed the Goth Loli girls and Afro guy.
