Reverse Harem Garden

Hello Wallflowers! I am not going to do a decade in review since I did that already a couple of years ago. but I am loooong overdue for my top 10 anime. I actually made one coincidentally a decade ago but it's a consolidated top 10 of everything from anime, manga and dramas as the titles are fewer back in 2010. I should have done it sooner but it's the nagging feeling that I should finish everything before I can post this. What if there's a hidden gem in my backlog that piled up beginning 2015 (due to pregnancy)?  Fast forward to last year and major life events later, I have finished nine anime in eight months. It felt like forever. And after that, I found out I could actually start the list even without watching the backlog. LOL But the good thing is I was able to finish it and that has put off a lot of guilt feelings from me. I mean who blogs about reverse harem and never watches past the first episode??? Sadly, I don't remember most of the story of the anime...

Kamisama Hajimemashita OVA It consists of two 15-minute-ish episodes. The first episode is based on the manga while the second one is an original story. In the first episode, Tomoe is keeping a secret from Nanami, while in the second episode Tomoe and Nanami go on a trip. It's just appetizers so I recommend watching this first before the main course which is Kako Hen. Kamisama Hajimemashita Kako Hen- ( Kamisama Kiss Past Arc) It consists of five OVAs that were bundled on different volumes. Tomo is afflicted with a curse and the only way to save him is for Nanami to travel back in time. 

Kamisama Hajimemashita (Kamisama Kiss) - 12 episodes The second season of Kamisama Hajimemashita continues with Nanami's misadventures as a land deity. The story can be divided into three arcs: Nanami attends the annual gathering of the gods. Nanami goes to Mount Kurama and Nanami goes to the New Year shrine god. And the suspicious-looking guy from the OVA is officially introduced as the villain of the story. 

The homeless Nanami is wandering aimlessly due to her father's debt. She meets Mikage who transfers the "god' seal to her. She becomes the land god of a rundown shrine with guardians, Onikiri and Kotetsu and fox familiar, Tomoe.  Someone suggested the manga years ago but I didn't find it as reverse harem then. When I found out it was going to be animated, I was on a lookout for it since I enjoyed the manga. But lo and behold the poster looks so reverse harem! It was only then that I realized the significance of the three beasts lore: fox, crow and snake.  It's a device prevalent in mangas especially in reverse harem titles like Love Monster, Black Bird etc. The anime reminds me of Maid-Sama. It's light, refreshing, funny and sweet. The set up also reminds me of Maid-Sama, although there's other guys (erm beasts) who are after her, the main story is really about Nanami and Tomoe.
