Webtoon Reviews: A Whirlwind Campus Affair, The Kiss Bet, and My Clueless Love Diary

I’m excited to share the mini-impressions and mini-reviews I first posted in the Patreon newsletter making their public debut as part of 18 Treasures : Favorite Reverse Harem Reads of the 2020s~ Manga, Manhwa, Webtoons & Novels of the    Reverse Harem Garden 18th Birthday Series . A Whirlwind Campus Affair  manhwa on Webtoons Rumor has it that Baram Oh had an affair with her married art school professor. It’s been four years since that debacle, and now she’s back at campus to try and enjoy her college life. But she’s not the only thing who’s returned: there’s rumors of a water ghost roaming the halls, and it just might be following her around. June 2, 2023 Baram returns to art school after a scandal. It's addicting, cute, funny, and I finished all season 1 in two days, and I want moooooore! I love the pink 'fits of the Baram Oh. At first, I wasn't sure who to root for as all the guys are on equal footing at the start, but as the story goes along, I know where my heart...

First Impression: Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion anime Eps. 1-3

Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion Episodes 1-3 Hanasaki Rinko gets into her dream university but she is literally pushed into a different world. She is reborn into Raeliana McMillan, a supporting character inside a novel who will die soon. Now, how did she end up in the Duke's mansion? The way she forged her path with Duke Noah Wynknight piqued my interest. There's no romance yet which is fine. The chemistry between the two is still brewing. They are not enemies but they are not allies either...yet. There are a lot of chess pieces references so should we expect a lot of scheming and political machinations? And Raeliana looks like she knows how to handle her game. There are gun references too in the opening and we can see her handling one, which makes me wonder how this will play out in the story. As early as now, Raeliana is offering a different kind of isekai-ed character and I'm excited to see where this goes.  However, the third episode is dragging. And for...

Webcomic Review: The Remarried Empress 77 episodes (ongoing)

The Remarried Empress - Written by Alphatart and Art by Sumpul /based on webnovel   Sovieshu asks for a divorce from his empress, Navier, while his concubine looks on smugly. Navier accepts and in return she asks for approval to remarry. Cue in Heinrey who wants to marry Navier. webnovel art I have two methods of consuming media. The first is for review mode where I recap and analyze each chapter or episode. The other one is where I just read or watch mindlessly without having to worry about reviewing it. Since I enjoyed Men of Harem I tried another one of her webnovel turned webtoon, The Remarried Empress. The prologue looks like a love triangle so I read this wantonly and fell into the webtoon scroll of doom. Take note this is now currently at 77 episodes. And halfway through...oh crap...why is this somehow turning into a reverse harem! Normally, I would be happy. I was supposed to reread it to properly review it but I just can't. It's entertaining but if I knew the story w...

Webcomic Review: Men of the Harem 17 episodes (ongoing)

Men of the Harem -   Adapted by Herelee and Art by Yeongbin/based on webnovel by Alphatart The prologue starts with Latrasil as newly- crowned emperor. But instead of choosing a consort, she decided to create a harem of concubines just like what the previous male rulers have done in the past. Will her harem help her get revenge on her old lover and secure her throne? Based on webnovel. This is currently being published on Webtoon. For uniformity, I will refer to all scrolling online comics or manga or manhwa as webcomics but I may slip and use it interchangeably with webtoons.  The reverse harem is seven but officially it's five who signed the papers and all as concubines. There's Klein, the prince of Karisen; Ranamun, eldest son of Duke Atraxil; Guest Rhodes, second son of chancellor of Tharium; Tasir, heir to the richest trading company; and Carlein, King of Mercenaries.  There are dark themes but for the most part, it's fun with no lull moments. Maybe it’s too p...

A Kiss to My Prince

A Kiss to My Prince by Kim Hee Eun 5 volumes, completed Sei-Ann dreams of marrying a prince. She finds her ticket to her dreams through a letter of recommendation to work as a maid in the royal castle. I'll just be vague because one, it's a must-read and two, it's disappointingly short. After reading it, I have to read the first couple of chapters again to laugh at her stupidity. I love titles wherein I get caught off guard by the twist, and the characters are unpredictable. There is something more beneath the shallow first impressions of the characters. Beautiful art too. This is the second manhwa that I've really enjoyed reading after 100% Perfect Girl. Thanks to Tartza, VonAwesome, and anonymous for the tips!

The Queen's Knight

The Queen's Knight by Kang Won Kim 17 volumes- complete The troubled Yuna escapes to Germany to get away from her issues in Korea. There Reino whisks her to Phantasma to be his queen. The foreign queen and her knights holds the key of unlocking the curse of the land. The story unfolds very slowly but the mystery was well thought of. Thanks to an anonymous visitor via comment and skribit for the tip! For other titles of heroine taken to another world, well besides Fushigi Yugi and Harutoki, you can try Red River and Meru Puri.

Peter Panda

"Peter Panda" by Yeri Na 4 volumes-complete Rui finds a panda who transforms to Peter. Peter looks like her would-be-ideal-man. I've been looking for this scans for the longest time but too bad the scanlators dropped the project.

Saver

"Saver" by Eun-Young Lee (13 volumes- ongoing) Lena Ha strives best to gain acceptance from her dad for not becoming the 'son'. When everything is falling her apart she wakes up in a different time and place where she is referred to as the prophesied child. She disguised as a boy while she travel the war-torn kingdoms. It reminds me of 'Red River ' minus the smut and Basara because of the gender bender factor. It's a serious read but very engaging and it's only halfway done. Someone suggested this back in December, also Tipzky via MAL last February and recently from Keisha and someone in Skribit. Thanks for the tips and only read this just now. Gomen!

Reverse Harem Turned BL

Orange Planet I thought it was a reverse harem until one errant bishie wanders off well to another bishie. Like the case of "Orange Planet". (Thanks to Keisha btw for the tip) "The Gentlemen's Alliance" almost didn't make it. "Milk Crown" fell short as well because of the BL. Anyway I'm not sure how "Billion Princess" will fare. "Billion Princess" by Yu Jia Yan 3 volumes- ongoing Bai Yao's dad heads a recording company but an accident transforms her from 'Billion Princess' to an aspiring manager who will start from zilch. It has a "Skip Beat" feel on it. Thanks to an anonymous visitor for the tip :)

Ardour

Ardour by Wu Rou Xuan 10 volumes-ongoing Ardour is the most popular boy band and Lian, an aspiring fashion student, doesn't even know or heard about them. The story scanlated so far is still at it's early stages. Let's wait for the threads and romance to unravel. Thanks Amel for the tip!

Red Lion

"Red Lion" by Yong Sun Kim 7 volumes-complete Eisul promised her mom that she'll be just like any other normal school girl. But her gangster past is fast catching on her as she attracts troublemakers, delinquents and bishies too. I'll be brief with the summary but for a giveaway the heroine is like Yamaguchi of "Gokusen" just make her a student from a regular household. For some reason all the characters' drawings remind me of Shin of "Gokusen". It's disappointing that the plot never progressed to anything outstanding. But if you're looking for light reading, this is it. It's action-packed, no tear jerking drama and a few laughs here and there. The length is just right, you wouldn't feel like the story is going in a loop. Next thing you know, you're done reading it.

Hoosamguk Gokyo

By ayreesa "Hoosamguk Goryo" ("Hoosamguk High") 10 volumes-complete by Mi Ri Hwang Alice wants to prove to her grandfather that she's fit to be the successor of Han Gan. She goes undercover to meet the husband candidates and adds her own prospects along the way. This is from the same mangaka of "Boarding House of Hunks". I'm not sure which of the two is her earlier work, but "Hoosamguk Gokyo"'s art is better. The story had references with Korea's royal history. The scans are more than halfway complete. I find the pacing a bit stretched. The candidates started at equal footing, I even guessed the wrong guy. I think she'll end up with the guy who's always in the cover with the heroine.

Boarding House of Hunks

"Muljoeun Hasukjib" ("Boarding House of Hunks") by Mi Ri Hwang 17 volumes-complete Jae Yoo is the adamant of getting into a boarding house filled with hunks ever since she was rejected by a guy. But she's at odds with the landlady's son who happens to be a witness of that fateful night. Is it just a coincidence or what, almost all the manwhas I've seen have similar art. The heroine looks beautiful in the cover only. I'm not yet sure where the story will go.   Follow Reverse Harem Garden on:  Youtube   |   Facebook   |  Twitter   |  Instagram   Please support via   |  Paypal     or please whitelist

It's Love

By ayreesa "It's Love" by Back-Eun Sang 7 volumes Sera was raised by the Choi's but the three brothers can't seem to accept her as their sister and have been bullying her since childhood. This is my first time reading a Korean comic or manhwa. The cultural differences is noticeable in just the use of 'oppa' instead of 'onii-chan'. I liked "the more you hate, the more you love" triple plot and the competition between them. But the pacing is slow and the storytelling didnt quite make me hooked. The art reminds me of old animations like "Legend of Georgie" probably because of the eyes. Translations are almost complete.
