Anime Review: The Demon Prince of Momochi House

The Demon Prince of Momochi House 12 episodes - based on manga Himari Momochi inherits a house but finds it inhabited by a young master, Nue and his two attendants: Yukari and Ise.  This is a mix of my first impression here on the blog and mini-impressions and mini-review from Patreon. And with some new insights.  The cohabitation and the setting is like Fruits Basket meets Kamisama Hajimemashita. But I spoke too soon in the First Impression when I thought Aoi's past was sad. The rest of the characters' backstories are sad, one after another. But it's a kind of sad that makes you want to protect them all. And it always leaves you with hope and living in the present and moving forward. It has a slice-of-life feel in the countryside albeit with supernatural twists at the end of the day. Among the three winter 2024 anime (with 7th Loop and Doctor Elise ), this is the one that I was most satisfied with the ending.  The anime versions did not do such beautiful characters jus...

Book Review: Chloe and the Kaishao Boys

Chloe and the Kaishao Boys by Mae Coyiuto Chloe Liang is turning 18 soon and has never dated anyone. In the Philippines, it is marked with a debutante's ball, prompting her Filipino-Chinese family to set her up with Kaishao Boys. And this is all when she's about to move to America for college to follow her dreams as an animator. Disclaimer: A review copy was provided by the publisher.  If you are new to this blog, this is a site dedicated to reverse harem. It's when there are three guys or more who are romantically interested in the heroine. Since yours truly is a Filipina and the title and premise are well about Kaishao Boys, reading this was a priority. But this was not a reverse harem in a traditional four flower-sense. (see Levels of Reverse Harem )  In a way. it can be a reverse harem if we put it from the perspective of one of her aunts:  The trick to meeting boys is to collect and select. You’re supposed to collect as many potential suitors as possible before you s...

Light Novel Review: I'd Rather Have a Cat than a Harem! Reincarnated into the World of an Otome Game as a Cat-loving Villainess Vol.2 (final volume)

Amy is busy with school, friends, and healing animals. In her free time, she plays with her cat and replies to Prince Edward's letters. But she can't help but also worry about the otome game storyline especially now that the characters are all grown-up and looking like the exact replicas of their game counterparts.  Disclaimer: A review copy was provided by the publisher. Check out the first volume review .  Let's get the cat out of the bag that this turned out not to be a reverse harem. This falls under two flowers (only one or two are interested in the heroine) under Levels of Reverse Harem . And just like how the cheerful Amy lulls everyone around her into false security, I got sucked into it as well, and because of cats too. I mean, what can go wrong with cats?!  It is also already more than halfway through when I realized it is the final installment because all the loose ends are suspiciously being tied up. But I know we needed closure if this ends up as reverse hare...

Manga Review: Sweet Sweet Revenge Vol. 1

Sweet Sweet Revenge Volume 1 by Shushushu Sakurai Hikari returns to her school after five years and to exact revenge on the school gang of fairy tale princes: Ao Senjoin, the one who humiliated her; Yuya Osanai, the one who framed her;  Kenichi Akashi, the one who shut her in; Kotaro Rokujo, the one one who stole from her and Fuji Takoaka, the one who did nothing but watch.  The picture above looks like your typical reverse harem manga. A girl. Five handsome boys. But it's far from it.  Instead of the boys fawning over her, the heroine is after them and is hating on all of them. And so far only two boys may have feelings for her. This falls under two flowers under Levels of Reverse Harem .  This is the first part of the two-volume series.  The story is funny...I mean hands down very funny...but it can be twisted and the revenge can be wild at times. In the center of the story are bullying and lots of trauma. It confuses me with who to feel sorry for. Hikari...

Light Novel Review: Mia and The Forbidden Medicine Report Vol. 2

Mia and The Forbidden Medicine Report Vol. 2 by Fumi Yamamoto/ Illustaration by Nitaka/ Translation by Evie Lund  After having won last year's special award, Mia is more desperate than ever to find a cure for her mother. Her group is doing the best they can to help which consists of Felix, a handsome Law student until he opens his mouth...; Henrik, a naturally gifted but ice-cold Medicine student; and Matthias, the shy mage who can kick ass. But they are at a loss on how to proceed in their first step in making medicine. Disclaimer: a review copy was provided by the publisher. It started slow and I feel lost when they feel at a loss too but things turned interesting as we see progress. I appreciate the seamless recaps since it's been too long since I first read the first volume .  This is the first light novel I've read which also sparked my reading streak for light novels. ( Do Hot Gimmick S count?  ) It stands to reason that t his has a special place in my heart. My fe...
