Hanayaka Nari, Waga Ichizoku: Kinetograph - OVA - 2 episodes

Haru works as a maid for the Miyanomori family. The head of the clan is a powerful man in Japan in the Taisho Era. He has six sons from different wives and he will name the heir of whoever makes him the happiest. 

At first, I didn't like the angular art and harsh palette. Even the music was weird. But I realized that I find it refreshing it after being used to fluffy and colorful reverse harems. The music has a nostalgic and retro vibe. I also like how they didn't try to squeeze in everything in just two episodes. It ends in a way that it will pique your interest to go buy and play the otome. Still, I wished it was a series instead of OVA. It was hard to choose my favorite bishie in just a short time but yet I find myself looking forward to the three brothers who are always hot-tempered. The anime also has also an unexpected good mix of seriousness and silly randomness. Overall, nothing fancy but not that bad either.

    I watched bothe episodes and I am in love! I love reverse harem so I was looking for a new one to watch and came across your blog, though I have watched pretty much all of the older ones I am glad that they are creating new ones that I can watch. I just hope she ends up with the brother I like <3 Thanks so much! _Azelia^.^

    I just finished watching it! :D It was a wonderful anime! :D I think they can definitely make more episodes!! :D

Anime Review: Kiskis! My Boyfriends are Mint Candies!

Kiskis! My Boyfriend are Mint Candies!- 4 episodes Tang Tang meet guys who each represent a flavor of mint candies. It has a catchy, cute opening. At first there's a different feel on it which I can't pinpoint. And then I realized that they are talking in Chinese! This is my first completed Chinese animation. Well since it was way too easy to finish it. It's 5-minute ONA for 4 episodes. I think this premiered last June 4. But the first Chinese animation I watched is still currently airing (unconfirmed reverse harem), Phantom in the Twilight, which is a collaboration between Japan and China. Oh back to back Chinese reviews after The Flame's Daughter. Is China going to be booming with reverse harem now?

  The video above is Levels of Reverse Harem version 2 (also posted  here ) Reverse Harem titles were very limited when I first started the blog eleven years ago. I was flexible with many titles where it's only one or two guys interested in the female protagonist and other gray areas. But we are now at a point where I can be strict with labeling reverse harem. Let's start with the classification of reverse harem-ness. This is for my sake too if in case I run off course again. 1. Five Flowers - This is literally reverse harem. The heroine has a harem of her own in her inner chamber. And we only have one example for this, manga and drama, Ooku. UPDATE: Please check STAGES OF REVERSE HAREM for more examples.

Drama Review: I Have Three Boyfriends

  I Have Three Boyfriends kdrama- 10 episodes  The story starts with Ra Hee going on a date after another with her three boyfriends. She's frantically trying not to get caught. The drama will unravel how she got herself into this dilemma.  This is the first reverse harem I've seen about cheating female main character. Certainly, this is bound to happen in reverse harem. BTW,  My favorite boyfriend is the domineering director.   It was not believable at first but it got me hooked. The story is milking the coincidences to the hilt.   The ending is unexpected and here all along I was under the impression that it's going to be open-ended. Sorry, to keep this review short as it's a short drama with  15 minutes runtime per episode.  This is the last of my backlog reviews from a couple of years ago. Anime Review: Kamisama Hajimemashita OVA and Kako-Hen

Kamisama Hajimemashita OVA It consists of two 15-minute-ish episodes. The first episode is based on the manga while the second one is an original story. In the first episode, Tomoe is keeping a secret from Nanami, while in the second episode Tomoe and Nanami go on a trip. It's just appetizers so I recommend watching this first before the main course which is Kako Hen. Kamisama Hajimemashita Kako Hen- ( Kamisama Kiss Past Arc) It consists of five OVAs that were bundled on different volumes. Tomo is afflicted with a curse and the only way to save him is for Nanami to travel back in time.
