Seventeen-year-old Elianna Bernstein is known as the Bibliophile Princess for her great love of reading books. After four years, she can sense her pretend engagement with Lord Christopher is about to be broken off.
Last year, I was able to read the source materials before the anime aired for The Saint's Magic is Omnipotent and Pretty Boy Detective Club. But this year, with the current reverse harem reviews backlog, I've decided to just wait for the anime to air starting with Bibliophile Princess.
The first three episodes felt like the last three episodes in a series without ever knowing what happened from episodes 1 to 9. Meanwhile, the romance gears are moving at a much faster pace compared to usual stories but... I don't feel that I'm there yet. There's no reason to hate it but I have yet to find a solid reason to love it. But there's a feeling of certainty that we'll be given more reasons to love it. We are lulled into thinking that it's a mundane hobby (which I disagree btw) but we get glimpses of how her passion is truly powerful.
And to the next important agenda. Is it a reverse harem? Sad to say, it is The Saint's Magic all over again. There is plenty of bishonen but it seems like it's all platonic well except for the prince. If this came out in the nineties or early 2000s, it will easily be labeled as reverse harem but alas, we live in an age now where this wouldn't do. But they are all overprotective of her and are fawning over her even though they should be hovering over Christopher. If it does become one someone already had dibs about having the best chemistry with Elianna. Lol At this point, I'm not gushing with any of the characters but I love Elianna's visuals and Alexi's coldness.
With all the isekai-villainess-otome game-reincarnation reverse harem, my brain has now associated it with a historical European court setting. If the villainess suddenly develop an epiphany about her past life, I wouldn't be surprised at all. In fact, I'm half-expecting it! But nevertheless, the bibliophile theme is a welcome treat. For book-themed reverse harem anime, you can check out Nil Admirari no Tenbin. How do you find the episodes so far?
