Anime Review: Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp

Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp anime - 12 episodes based on webnovel Elise is a spoiled princess who is executed and reincarnated in modern Earth. She turns into a new leaf and becomes a surgeon. Then she goes back in her time before the events that will lead her to her demise.  This is a mix of my first impression here on the blog, mini-impressions, and mini-review from Patreon. And with some new insights. The premise of Elise has two layers of twists to the reincarnation and time loop tropes. For the first episode alone among the three anime,  ( 7th Loop  and  Demon Prince of Momochi House ) goes to Elise. In a short period, we felt like we knew her already and felt her sincerity to help. First Impressions: Episodes 1-3 The Demon Prince of Momochi House, 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy! and Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp

The Demon Prince of Momochi House Eps. 1-3 based on manga Himari Momochi inherits a house but finds it inhabited by a young master and his two attendants.  If we exclude the orphan premise as an excuse for reverse harem cohabitation (personal bias), the supernatural situations felt natural and not cringey or absurd. There's a balance of fun, hints of romance, and melancholy. Must. Protect. Nue. And I'm enjoying the story more than I should. Japanese mythology and highschool shenanigans are a welcome treat with the prevalence of the royalty court setting from both isekai and non-isekai as of late. And it sure does feel like it was the 2010s again with shojo manga nostalgia. Momochi OP  At first, I was afraid of the quality of the animation because the promo stills looked weird. But after the first episode, we can safely breathe with relief now.
