Nail Shop Paris - 10 episodes

Hong Yeo Joo is an internet novelist dedicated to the lore of gumihos. To get inspiration, she tailed a guy and ended up pretending as a boy in a nail shop with flower boy nail artists.

For flower boys + work, we had coffee shop, ramyun shop and now we have a nail shop. The weird thing is they decided to pair the gender bender + flower boy with supernatural theme of gumihos. But I love the idea of flower boy nail artists. Girls would be swooning with handsome guys holding their hands. But the reverse harem ends there. The romance setup was a love triangle. But even with just 2 guys, the drama made me doubt myself several times of who'll she end up with.

It had it's 3 or 4 great cliffhangers but I was not 100% emotionally hooked. There where three factors. 1) The acting of heroine, Park Gyu Ri. She only have one expression! 2) The storyline and sub-plots are so random. I was afraid there's going to have a lot of loose ends but they cleverly wrapped it all up in the last 15 mins. 3) The directing. Maybe I was just so used to flashy dramas but it wasn't just that polished. There were also lots of awkward little details like having uber long nails while in crossbending mode, Kay wearing tiara when he won, Kay wearing dark shades during fight scenes etc.

During the final episode I suddenly realized that "Jin" closely resembles Sandara Park and it hit me he must be her brother. Sure enough it was him. He's also better known as Thunder of boy band, MBLAQ. Park Gyu Ri is also from the girl group, KARA. "Kay" was also familiar since I saw him in "The Moon Embraces the Sun". I've also created "beauty" and "gumiho" tags for related themes.

Kiskis! My Boyfriend are Mint Candies!- 4 episodes Tang Tang meet guys who each represent a flavor of mint candies. It has a catchy, cute opening. At first there's a different feel on it which I can't pinpoint. And then I realized that they are talking in Chinese! This is my first completed Chinese animation. Well since it was way too easy to finish it. It's 5-minute ONA for 4 episodes. I think this premiered last June 4. But the first Chinese animation I watched is still currently airing (unconfirmed reverse harem), Phantom in the Twilight, which is a collaboration between Japan and China. I Have Three Boyfriends kdrama- 10 episodes The story starts with Ra Hee going on a date after another with her three boyfriends. She's frantically trying not to get caught. The drama will unravel how she got herself into this dilemma. This is the first reverse harem I've seen about cheating female main character. Certainly, this is bound to happen in reverse harem. BTW, My favorite boyfriend is the domineering director. It was not believable at first but it got me hooked. The story is milking the coincidences to the hilt. The ending is unexpected and here all along I was under the impression that it's going to be open-ended. Sorry, to keep this review short as it's a short drama with 15 minutes runtime per episode. Anime Review: Kamisama Hajimemashita OVA and Kako-Hen

Kamisama Hajimemashita OVA It consists of two 15-minute-ish episodes. The first episode is based on the manga while the second one is an original story. In the first episode, Tomoe is keeping a secret from Nanami, while in the second episode Tomoe and Nanami go on a trip. It's just appetizers so I recommend watching this first before the main course which is Kako Hen. Kamisama Hajimemashita Kako Hen- ( Kamisama Kiss Past Arc) It consists of five OVAs that were bundled on different volumes. Tomo is afflicted with a curse and the only way to save him is for Nanami to travel back in time.
