Light Novel Review: The Reincarnated Princess Spends Another Day Skipping Story Routes Vol. 2

The Reincarnated Princess Spends Another Day Skipping Story Routes: Volume 2 by Bisu Art by: Yukiko Translated by: Tom Harris

After being reincarnated as the otome game villainess, all that Lady Rosemary wants is to spend her life in peace but still with her conscience intact. She basically has to do the following in order to achieve that: 1. prevent a war 2. stop the spread of the disease and 3. obstruct Demon Lord's revival. Disclaimer: A review copy was provided by the publisher. Check out the first volume review here.

First order of business: the reverse harem factor. A major character makes an appearance and it's not clear yet if he will join the enamored guys but it's not far-fetched. Based on the volume 3 summary, we'll see the remaining three characters in the next volume and I can't wait.  It's cute when the reverse harem squabble over her with their murderous verbal exchanges. But it's obvious by this book of who'll be the one (See Stages of Reverse Harem), with the 'screentime' and progress. But man oh man the secondhand embarrassment is strong. Not feeling it yet because of the age gap but I so so so want her to grow up and THAT will be a different story.

I also didn't enjoy it as much as I should have because I was getting impatient and wanted to do a time skip where Rosemary is older. My advice is to slow it down and enjoy the ride. A year has passed since the last events in the first volume and she's now turning 11. For reference, George is 13, Teo is 14 and maybe Lutz as well,  Klaus may be in his early twenties and Julius and Leon are in their late twenties. In the game proper, she'll be 15 or 16.

The conflicts are still unraveling but the strategic/tactical element is now clearer compared to the first volume. It started with the isekai template but I am enjoying how the story is taking off in unexpected directions that I am used to. The characters, plot devices used in the story, the foreshadowing, and the translation are all written well. The author continues with the last lingering line or tone or facial expression that leaves an impact and that paints a thousand words. And as well as always tiptoeing on thin lines but never really crossing it.

One of the things that I continue to enjoy is the heroine's internal monologues most especially towards Klaus. And the more she gets unkind to him, the more Klaus gets a kick out of it. It's funny when she gets angry and hurl profanities in her head towards him and another new character. This new character is not part of the reverse harem but has a crucial role to play. It's safe to say I prefer it when she gets angry with them over her lovesick thoughts towards Leon.

When I started reading reverse harem western fiction I got so addicted to The Ghost Bird Series and later on with The Veil Diaries series. And when I finally dipped into Japanese reverse harem light novels it was a bit of a big transition but eventually, I got the hang of it. But now I can finally say that I found the light novel that can be at par with the exhilaration that I get from the first two series. And what do you know it just dawned on me that The Reincarnated Princess is a slow burn as well. For someone who's doesn't want stories that drag on my favorite novels are slow burn. What can I say I can magically gain patience and stay around if the stories are compelling and the characters are all fleshed out like the case of these three. I do not recommend skipping on this light novel. You won't regret it. Let me know your thoughts in the comments!

👑 18 Treasures: Favorite Reverse Harem Reads from 2020-2025 (Manga, Manhwa, Webtoons & Novels)

Hello, Wallflowers! This is Ayreesa.  I recently shared my 18 Gems :  reverse harem reads from 2007–2019 that shaped me. Now it’s time for my personal favorite* reverse harem reads from 2020 to present , listed in the order I read them. Personal favorite = Some are problematic. 😅Sorry! Who knows, this might turn into one of your treasured favorites, too! Winning a copy of Mia and the Forbidden Medicine   Report back in 2020 gave me the push to request review copies and start covering licensed titles + licensing news . I’d love to cover even more stories, but both time and budget keep me from reading everything on my list. To make the most of my schedule, I share quick impressions and mini-reviews on Patreon. If you’d like to help me keep exploring new titles, you can support me through Patreon or Ko-fi . E very bit means so much!  This is Part 2 of 4 of Reverse Harem Garden  18th birthday series .  In the Philippines, a debut ball includes dancing with...

Light Novel Review: Culinary Chronicles of the Court Flower Vol. 1

Culinary Chronicles of the Court Flower Vol. 1 - Story by Miri Mikawa Art by Kasumi Nagi Translated by afm  Setsu Rimi enters the imperial harem as a tribute to the emperor. She is a carefree girl with cooking as her sole passion. She meets the  cuisinologist/loveless scholar Su Shusei,  the emperor's bodyguard Shin Jotetsu; the beautiful eunuch Sai Hakurei, and the magnificent and sadist-like emperor Ryo Shohi. Disclaimer: A review copy was provided by the publisher.  The reason it got into my reverse harem radar is thanks to the last bit of " China-inspired fantasy story about a princess and her love for food surrounded by gorgeous men ." She's surrounded alright by gorgeous men. Let me arrange them on their level of interest to her. The main guy is Shusei. Period. Hakurei comes second who has taken interest in her but for different confusing reasons. The emperor is bent on getting her beheaded but she is his concubine so there's plenty of room for possible ...

Year in Review 2017

from Kenka Bancho Otome And just like that it's time for Year in Review again. While doing the review, I realized it was a slow year for reverse harem shows and movies. We only had four animes:  Kenka Bancho Otome: Girl Beats Boys, Code Realize, Ikemen Sengoku and Dance with Devils: Fortuna movie, which are all otome game adaptations. The rest of the Winter 2018 anime shows will be airing next year: Idolish 7 Dame X Prince, Yuuwaku Office Lover 2 and Gekijouban Tokimeki Restaurant ☆☆☆ MIRACLE 6. For dramas, we have Ani ni Aisaresugite Komattemasu jdrama, Ani ni Aisaresugite Komattemasu movie and Five which are manga adaptations. I'm not sure yet with Seizei Ganbare Mahou Shoujo Kurumi and Good Morning Call Our Campus Days. And oh yeah we have one American TV show, She's Gotta Have it.

All-Time Top Ten Reverse Harem Anime

Hello Wallflowers! I am not going to do a decade in review since I did that already a couple of years ago. but I am loooong overdue for my top 10 anime. I actually made one coincidentally a decade ago but it's a consolidated top 10 of everything from anime, manga and dramas as the titles are fewer back in 2010. I should have done it sooner but it's the nagging feeling that I should finish everything before I can post this. What if there's a hidden gem in my backlog that piled up beginning 2015 (due to pregnancy)?  Fast forward to last year and major life events later, I have finished nine anime in eight months. It felt like forever. And after that, I found out I could actually start the list even without watching the backlog. LOL But the good thing is I was able to finish it and that has put off a lot of guilt feelings from me. I mean who blogs about reverse harem and never watches past the first episode??? Sadly, I don't remember most of the story of the anime...

Light Novel Review: I'd Rather Have a Cat than a Harem! Reincarnated into the World of an Otome Game as a Cat-loving Villainess Vol.1

I'd Rather Have a Cat than a Harem! Reincarnated into the World of an Otome Game as a Cat-loving Villainess Vol.1 by Kozusu Kobato Art by: Hinano Chano Translation by Jenny Murphy | Under Winter Reverse Harem 2022 Amy is the 10-year old daughter of Earl of Northland. She suddenly remembers her past life as a highschool student in Japan. And it's not just her...her whole family gets reincarnated! But instead of becoming a villainess and having a harem, she would rather just have a pet cat. Her mom hatches a plan of having her gain weight to ward off an engagement. Disclaimer: A review copy was provided by the publisher.  It should be obvious by the title that it is going to be more of cats than harem. It's a heaven for anyone who loves cats so much. There will be a cat mountain, cat cosplay, and a whole lot more cat cuteness. If you are not obsessed with cats or animals, by the end of the book you will be one.  Of course, we're still going to talk about the harem members...

English Otome Mobile Apps

English otome apps are now available in smartphones! The art and the bishies are eye candy and the   premises are engaging. These are all paid apps but they all come with free prologues to tempt your wallets. Finally,  English games that are accessible! I wish I can just pay it in my local currency rather than credit card. "Pirates in Love" is the first title of Voltage Romance Sims. It's available both in itunes and play. You'll have to pay for each characters and epilogues. I really want to play Eduardo! "My Forged Wedding" is also from Voltage and are also available in itunes and play . The prologue doesn't give away the details as to why exactly they need to fake the wedding but check out the video above to have an idea why. I'm gravitating to Saeki (the ladies man) and Yamato (the rude guy). Also, the "uncle" seems to be play-able character in the future. Interesting. ...

Anime Review: 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy

7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life Married to Her Worst Enemy anime-12 episodes- based on a light novel  Rishe Irmgard Weitzner is now on her 7th life after always being killed in one way or another by Prince Arnold Hein. But on the 7th time loop, her enemy has taken an interest in her. This is a mix of my first impression here on the blog, mini-impressions, and mini-review from Patreon. And with some new insights.  7th Time Loop is entertaining and exciting.  It makes you think of the possibilities and the interconnections.  Her past six lives were summarized without being long-winded but just enough to pique our curiosity. The critical timing of each action or decision will lead to different outcomes or probable "romance routes". Or so I thought. No reverse harem romance but there's a bishonen for each life. Think Amnesia.  And this is by far, the fastest turn of events from a "love at first sight".  I've been avoiding saying this is my...

Anime Review: Kiskis! My Boyfriends are Mint Candies!

Kiskis! My Boyfriend are Mint Candies!- 4 episodes Tang Tang meet guys who each represent a flavor of mint candies. It has a catchy, cute opening. At first there's a different feel on it which I can't pinpoint. And then I realized that they are talking in Chinese! This is my first completed Chinese animation. Well since it was way too easy to finish it. It's 5-minute ONA for 4 episodes. I think this premiered last June 4. But the first Chinese animation I watched is still currently airing (unconfirmed reverse harem), Phantom in the Twilight, which is a collaboration between Japan and China. Oh back to back Chinese reviews after The Flame's Daughter. Is China going to be booming with reverse harem now?

Manga Review: Futei de Furachi na Ani desu ga

Futei de Furachi na Ani desu ga (My Handsome Brothers) by Yuki Shiraishi  5 chapters (complete) Ayumu feels like a goose with her clingy and school's popular Shiratora brothers. Only 1 chapter is available so far. I wonder if the scanlators meant duckling. Anyway, the animal reference is not something new since it's from the same mangaka who wrote other two reverse harems: Ookamidomo no Shitsukekata (wolves) and Bokura no Himitsu wo Kyouyuu shiyou ka  (animal love story) . I don't remember really liking her art before but I sure do now.
