If this is the final book, I am perfectly content with it. There is no foreshadowing of a possible storyline and we get closures from almost all the characters. But I would have preferred this volume to be a mix of the climax if it's going to be the finale. The conflicts have already been taken care of except for a few hiccups. It's a giant send-off and extended cut of Rosemary and Leon supremacy. But the book does give justice to all the characters and a moment to say their goodbyes to Rose. You can feel their sadness and pining for each POV.
There is much secondhand embarrassment in witnessing the two as they show their affection for one another. With all the descriptive scenes, I'm gonna be pissed if there is no equally descriptive honeymoon scene. I'm just kidding! The author's trademark sense of humor is also apparent throughout the volume as it's sprinkled all throughout different lines delivered by different major and minor characters.
The reincarnated isekai trope has the pattern of being overpowered and oblivious and Reincarnated Princess is no exception. But what sets it apart is the author has breathed life into the supporting ensemble cast. All ten pairs of main characters and side characters and we get more people as the story goes along. The author is well aware of the heroine's perfection and flaws and has cleverly used devices to address this. And including the age gap which in the end won me over.
I also love the parallelism and contrast of the main characters versus the side characters. Each character is rich and well thought out. In the end, it doesn't matter anymore who's who. The downside is that the loveable characters are the thorn in my heart. My ships sailed to different routes but there can only be one. I had so many favorite characters and some of them are not even love interests!
The major conflicts that Rosemary has to overcome seem neatly compartmentalized and straightforward but it always keeps me on my toes. As I start each volume it always surprises me where the characters and the story will bring me. It always delivers. It is a slow burn that will make you fall in love with the characters deeply. This is currently the longest per-volume review for manga and light novels in the blog. There is also a manga version and it is available on Pocket Comics. What are your thoughts?
