Manga Review: Love at First Memory Vol. 1~ The Hype is Real

Love at First Memory by Narumi Hasegaki

Mia Takanashi wakes up from a coma and finds herself with four boyfriends. Before the accident, she had apparently already chosen who she was going to marry. A review copy was provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

The pacing is fast but not overwhelming. And them as a group? It just works. They have instant chemistry. I love the little bits of humor. Together? They’re an absolute riot.

It’s also marketed as a self-aware reverse harem. Is this the part where she goes, “I can see myself falling for them all over again. All four of them.” I’m not going to deep dive into each boyfriend yet, but she might have been dating one, two, or all at the same time. Then again, one of the boys or everyone might have their own agenda.

And when she said that line… all four of them… are we getting a Five Flowers manga??? (See Bloom Index/ Levels of Reverse Harem. In Five Flowers, the heroine either chooses everyone or she literally has a harem ala Ooku.)

The covers and the storyflow suggest there is a main guy, the one featured above. So far, we’ve gotten backstory for two of them, and I must say it was done so well that I may have already signed a deal with one of the seemingly supporting male leads. The panels between him and Mia, the height difference, his expression… *swoons*. But I’m still bracing myself to be completely sold once we uncover the deal with that one suspicious and persistent character. I will be disappointed if I don’t end up being sold. The expression when he wanted Mia to take off his...Hahaha. Overall, I love the contrast of the expressions of all four guys.

Amnesia with a side of who's my boyfriend is not new in reverse harem, but the characters and the treatment give it a refreshing take. Mia doesn’t know certain things, but she’s smart. I liked how she deduced things, and I look forward to how she will use it to piece her memory back together in the future. And with the iconic truck at that, good thing she wasn't isekai-ed. lol

This has been popular in the grapevine, and now we know why. This getting licensed actually inspired me to create a Reverse Harem Bingo Wishlist. It’s from the same author as another reverse harem manga,  Boss Bride Days. Check here for more titles featuring amnesia tropes.

I’m not sure which of the two is the official print cover, the lighter-colored one at the top or the vibrant one above, but it’s clear that the manga is going the route of featuring each bishōnen on individual covers. Check out my reel featuring other manga with this type of cover style.

Beautiful art✅ Bishonen ✅ Intriguing Story✅ It's a truck-kun hit, and I'm staying. Who do you think is the main guy? Or do you think she’s choosing everyone? Let me know in the comments. No spoiler, please!
