Candy Candy

"Candy is a very nice, warm-hearted and cheerful girl. Many people like her or love her because of her kind personality. When she was a little child, she lived in an orphanage. There she met a handsome mysterious boy on a hill behind her home. This "prince on the hill" becomes an important person in her life.... She lived in the orphanage until she is adopted by a very influential big clan. Candy is a very good friend of the teenagers Annie, Archie, Stear and Anthony. Though she and Terence love each other very much, she leaves him because another girl, who is hopelessly in love with him, needs him more. Finally she devotes herself to Albert, a handsome young man and a very good friend of her. " --from Anime News Network

"Candy Candy is primarily a love story. Candy's first love was a character named Anthony Brown, but the series is remembered by the majority of fans as a result of her heartbreaking separation from her true love and soulmate, Terrence "Terry" Grantchester.A recurrent story arc in the series is the "Prince of the Hill", a mysterious boy Candy encountered once as a child. His identity is revealed in the last pages of the manga and in the last chapters of the anime."--Wikipedia

"Candy Candy" is written by Kyoko Mizuki and drawn by Yumiko Igashari. The manga ran from 1975 to 1979 while 115 episodes were aired from 1976 to 1979. This might be the grandmother of reverse harems unless there is an older anime or manga that I'm not aware of. I havn't actually seen this but it aired in our country years ago. Some of the episodes are in CR but lo and behold when I finally decided to watch it, it was already removed due to licensing. sob! Speaking of licensing, the writer and the artist had legal disputes with the copyrights. The long battle ended with equal rights between the two which is a first of it's kind in Japan, but the "Candy Candy" was never given a proper ending that fans had clamored for. I kept on thinking that the girl looks like "Lady Georgie" and it turns out they were from the same artist.

It's such a shame that you didn't get to see it on CR, it was a REALLY good anime. They only had up to episode 54 back then though but I can truly say that it's the best one i've ever seen.

All-Time Top Ten Reverse Harem Anime

Hello Wallflowers! I am not going to do a decade in review since I did that already a couple of years ago. but I am loooong overdue for my top 10 anime. I actually made one coincidentally a decade ago but it's a consolidated top 10 of everything from anime, manga and dramas as the titles are fewer back in 2010. I should have done it sooner but it's the nagging feeling that I should finish everything before I can post this. What if there's a hidden gem in my backlog that piled up beginning 2015 (due to pregnancy)? Fast forward to last year and major life events later, I have finished nine anime in eight months. It felt like forever. And after that, I found out I could actually start the list even without watching the backlog. LOL But the good thing is I was able to finish it and that has put off a lot of guilt feelings from me. I mean who blogs about reverse harem and never watches past the first episode??? Sadly, I don't remember most of the story of the anime...

Reverse harem is not an exact science. Fans may have a different interpretation of what reverse harem is. Now, this a tale of two otomes turned animes from Winter 2015 who just didn't quite feel reverse harem at all. And I thought it was going to be the best season ever. Boy, I was wrong. Prince of Stride: Alternative- 12 episodes Nana enters Honan Academy to join the stride club.

Reverse Harem Anime Catch-Up Marathon: Nil Admirari, Yume 100, Dame x Prince, Scared Rider Xechs and Magic-Kyun

My marathon started in March of last year with two seasons of B-Project , fourth/last season Uta Prince No Sama and Phantom of Twilight . I usually blog my review before I start with watching the next anime but at the rate I'm going it will take me forever to get it all done. I decided to watch the remaining anime one after another without blogging and I finished it all by December. The last time I had this marathon was from the time I first discovered reverse harem. But unlike before, this time I feel like I was losing my mind and I'm going to quit watching reverse harem anime for good. Well almost. The only way for me to blog all these anime would be in one go...again. I'm just going to keep 'em all short. Disclaimer: As usual I have not played any of the games.
