Today is the blog’s 15th anniversary! (It's actually tomorrow but since there's a super typhoon in my country 😖, we're a day early. ) And it's only fitting that you get the latest reverse harem anime list for 2022, 2023, and TBA.
And in commemoration of the anniversary, I've also asked for testimonials and questions from you. Here we go!
I was hesitant to request a testimonial and hara's message was such great timing. It gave me the extra push and also gave me an idea to do a Q&A. Thanks Hara! And to answer her questions:
(This was my response to her DM) Ooh, great question! I don't get this kind of question at all haha Fushigi Yugi was my all-time fave back in college and I've been looking for something similar and I couldn't find one. Then years later I discovered Ouran and the word 'reverse harem'. So I binged all the reverse harem anime available back then and I remember Saiunkoku Monogatari was the last one from the binge and after watching it that's when I decided to create a reverse harem blog since I couldn't find one. And that was exactly 15 yrs ago the blog turns 15 this 26th!
It started with the bishonen of course but over time I love that even though it has predictability there is still so much variety in terms of media and story. With liking it better than regular romance anime or drama? I never thought of it as something better. I kind of treat them as something parallel that you get to enjoy the best of both worlds.
I think most of the time I root for the main guy but there are instances, especially in dramas where I fall for the second lead. Or sometimes I love equally both the main and second or third lead or whatever.😁
Thank you so much K! She is the longest patron to date and she cheers me a lot behind the scenes! And to answer her questions:
Have you ever regretted all the time and effort you put into reading/watching/playing reverse harems?
Yes, it was when I stopped working to focus on my son and I gave myself a deadline to earn from the blog. And when that didn't happen, I began wondering if all I have been doing is a waste of time. But luckily I watched this Youtube video of what would be your legacy in terms of work/calling and I realized then that this is my legacy. So I stopped treating it like something I could earn from and just continue treating it as a creative outlet and passion project.
Is there some other genre you actually prefer more?
Not really prefer more but I rotate a lot of genres or rather media. Kdrama, US series, and reverse harem. Every now and then I crave watching fashion-centric shows and sci-fi shows. I love reading non-reverse harem too but no time now.
I've always wondered how you have the energy to consistently maintain your blog, so I guess it led me to wondering if you've ever seriously wanted to leave it behind, or abandon it in favor of pursuing another kind of blogging genre.
In terms of energy, I think it's the other way around. The blog keeps my cup full and as they say, when your cup is full it makes me give more to my family. Like I mentioned earlier, I almost did stop the blog. I actually started a productivity /personal development blog. I was in new decade, new blog phase. And then in one of those productivity videos, I rekindled my love for Reverse Harem Garden.
