Mystia attends the sports festival with plans of triggering romance routes for Raid and Alice. Then Helen from Raid's childhood makes an appearance. Check out Volumes 1 to 3 reviews. Disclaimers: A review copy was provided by the publisher and spoilers ahead.
The series is a mixed harem or everyone is in love with her or doting on her on a bit obsessive side. The four capture targets are not on full throttle yet. In the earlier volumes, we see glimpses of the household staff having their own agenda all for Mystia. And despite a mysterious force sabotaging her and NPCs who are jealous of her, everyone is interested or kind to her. The girls are not left unscathed. There's the heroine of the game, Alice. Feena seems to be acting like a very abnormal capture target too. And I'm pretty sure she will be friends with the new rival, Helen, in the next volumes or so. And of course, Mello. 'nuff said.
And we have mysterious characters who we don't know yet if they'll be allies or villains or more members of her ever-growing harem. Ali, the janitor from the previous volume. Victor, the twin brother of Feena. There's Claus who's having fun on her behalf. And a new character with a long, beautiful tresses being called master. There are four groups in all. The capture targets, the household staff, the girls, and the mysterious/shady characters. Ensemble harem, anyone?
This manga has red flags all over it and intentionally so. But that's what makes the manga more interesting than your usual isekai otome game. There's something about seeing it from the guy's POV. It's not your usual idealistic, pure romantic interest. And having said that, I'm hoping our main guy stays in the green flag zone. Ah! That smirk he made in Eric's POV. That really stole my heart. Mystia is aware that the main two guys have deviated but is also afflicted with the Bakarina syndrome or being oblivious to everyone's feelings. And even though I've seen it several times in other villainess anime, I still get a kick when the heroine suddenly goes and acts in their villainess mode.
There are so many micro conflicts buzzing in the background and more characters being introduced and they are all asking for your attention all at once. There's so much going on so little time. But with all the open tabs in my head, I'm relieved that we see now a foreshadowing of future conflict and hints of antagonists.
The fourth volume cover features Robert. There's a different color going on for each cover and of course, this is my favorite since I'm partial to purple. But all the covers are beautiful which inspired what I'll be mentioning next. If you are keeping tabs on what I promised in the third volume review, I will be updating this shortly with the heroine with each bishies reel. And you have to watch it as there is a surprise fifth cover from this manga!
