Amy is the 10-year old daughter of Earl of Northland. She suddenly remembers her past life as a highschool student in Japan. And it's not just her...her whole family gets reincarnated! But instead of becoming a villainess and having a harem, she would rather just have a pet cat. Her mom hatches a plan of having her gain weight to ward off an engagement. It should be obvious by the title that it is going to be more of cats than harem. It's a heaven for anyone who loves cats so much. There will be a cat mountain, cat cosplay, and a whole lot more cat cuteness. If you are not obsessed with cats or animals, by the end of the book you will be one.

Of course, we're still going to talk about the harem members even though they don't stand a chance with the feline creatures. Reverse harem-ness spoilers ahead. My mind glossed over the harem again and all throughout I really thought that it is strictly a love triangle (or two flowers levels, see Levels of Reverse Harem) since the third guy is also her reincarnated biological brother. The twins made me hopeful but they seem to be minor characters only. And it was only at the chapter before the final one that I remembered there are actually five love interests! There's hope after all or I can be wrong... So far we have met the third prince, Edward; aristocratic Alexander; and foreign prince, Jahal. And we still have yet to meet the other two which are described as magician and son of the commander of Order of Knights. The next volume should have at least one more guy to develop feelings for Amy or we would have been catfished into reading this but then again I don't mind though. (See what I did there. lol) I'm amused with the craftiness of the lead guy in getting close to her while I admire the other guy who has a refreshing approach to being the second lead.

The story deconstructed the cliches in the tropes that involved villainesses and otome reincarnations. Amy is so self-aware of the cliches but I'm kind of disappointed it didn't dwell on that. It then turns into slice-of-life middle-grade fiction. I love the descriptive writing and the translation. I can almost feel Tigger's softness or taste the salt in the air in Wallum. Everything is perfectly calculated to evoke lazy, idyllic life of Amy rolling around with her pet, Tigger. The author wanted to write a peaceful happy story of humans and animals living in harmony and it delivered. It's a wholesome, positive, and cute light novel.

This is the first reverse harem that I know of where the heroine intentionally wants to look fat in contrast with Love Revo and Kiss Him, Not Me which is into losing weight. At the risk of giving too much away, all I can say is that Amy's cuteness is spilling all over the place as shown in the lovely illustrations. And it's not only her looks, she is just so adorably cute with her personality and her obsession with cats. But I'm not buying the magical aspect, it felt like a weak excuse to justify her weight gain. It's good though that her powers are treated as a matter of fact and not overly hyped. While the story seems slow-paced I can sense something big is brewing up and Amy's powers would play a key role.

If you are looking for other middle-grade fiction, I recommend another Cross Infinite World title, Mia, and the Forbidden Medicine. Year in Review 2017

We only had four animes: Kenka Bancho Otome: Girl Beats Boys, Code Realize, Ikemen Sengoku and Dance with Devils: Fortuna movie, which are all otome game adaptations. The rest of the Winter 2018 anime shows will be airing next year: Idolish 7 Dame X Prince, Yuuwaku Office Lover 2 and Gekijouban Tokimeki Restaurant ☆☆☆ MIRACLE 6. For dramas, we have Ani ni Aisaresugite Komattemasu jdrama, Ani ni Aisaresugite Komattemasu movie and Five which are manga adaptations. I'm not sure yet with Seizei Ganbare Mahou Shoujo Kurumi and Good Morning Call Our Campus Days. And oh yeah we have one American TV show, She's Gotta Have it.

All-Time Top Ten Reverse Harem Anime

Hello Wallflowers! I am not going to do a decade in review since I did that already a couple of years ago. but I am loooong overdue for my top 10 anime. I actually made one coincidentally a decade ago but it's a consolidated top 10 of everything from anime, manga and dramas as the titles are fewer back in 2010. I should have done it sooner but it's the nagging feeling that I should finish everything before I can post this. What if there's a hidden gem in my backlog that piled up beginning 2015 (due to pregnancy)? Fast forward to last year and major life events later, I have finished nine anime in eight months. It felt like forever. And after that, I found out I could actually start the list even without watching the backlog. LOL But the good thing is I was able to finish it and that has put off a lot of guilt feelings from me. I mean who blogs about reverse harem and never watches past the first episode??? English otome apps are now available in smartphones! The art and the bishies are eye candy and the premises are engaging. These are all paid apps but they all come with free prologues to tempt your wallets. Finally, English games that are accessible! I wish I can just pay it in my local currency rather than credit card. "Pirates in Love" is the first title of Voltage Romance Sims. It's available both in itunes and play. You'll have to pay for each characters and epilogues. I really want to play Eduardo! "My Forged Wedding" is also from Voltage and are also available in itunes and play . The prologue doesn't give away the details as to why exactly they need to fake the wedding but check out the video above to have an idea why. I'm gravitating to Saeki (the ladies man) and Yamato (the rude guy). Also, the "uncle" seems to be play-able character in the future. Interesting. ...

Kiskis! My Boyfriend are Mint Candies!- 4 episodes Tang Tang meet guys who each represent a flavor of mint candies. It has a catchy, cute opening. At first there's a different feel on it which I can't pinpoint. And then I realized that they are talking in Chinese! This is my first completed Chinese animation. Well since it was way too easy to finish it. It's 5-minute ONA for 4 episodes. I think this premiered last June 4. But the first Chinese animation I watched is still currently airing (unconfirmed reverse harem), Phantom in the Twilight, which is a collaboration between Japan and China. Oh back to back Chinese reviews after The Flame's Daughter. Is China going to be booming with reverse harem now?

Manga Review: Futei de Furachi na Ani desu ga

Futei de Furachi na Ani desu ga (My Handsome Brothers) by Yuki Shiraishi 5 chapters (complete) Ayumu feels like a goose with her clingy and school's popular Shiratora brothers. Only 1 chapter is available so far. I wonder if the scanlators meant duckling. Anyway, the animal reference is not something new since it's from the same mangaka who wrote other two reverse harems: Ookamidomo no Shitsukekata (wolves) and Bokura no Himitsu wo Kyouyuu shiyou ka (animal love story) . I don't remember really liking her art before but I sure do now.
